Episode #51 -- The Hunted

(or: “[in a piss-poor Hulk Hogan impression] Sniff it up, brother!”)

The Hunted is a 2003 film directed by William Friedkin, who, for those not in the know, directed The Exorcist and several other well-received movies. Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio del Toro are in it. It’s about a military trainer having to track down and stop one of his former pupils who has seemingly gone off the deep end. Sounds thrilling, yes? Like a good combination of talent and story, yes? Well, at the risk of eliminating the tension that surrounds the reveal of our rating of the movie, let us just say that it’s kinda shitty. We watched the trailer long before we watched the movie itself, and that is probably the main reason why there’s been such a long gap between episodes. At the back of our minds, we knew that it was something that we should try to get to, but neither one of us wanted to commit to spending 90 minutes on something that, despite all of the action scenes in the trailer, looked pretty fucking dull. What isn’t dull by any stretch of the imagination, however, is Netflix’s sketch comedy show I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson. A lot of the sketches play off of insecurities that most people have experienced at one point or another, like not fitting in with a group, or not wanting to look dumb about being wrong about something relatively insignificant, and then takes them in ridiculously funny directions. It’s the kind of thing that is sort of hard to articulate, so we’ll just let a few of the sketches do the heavy lifting here:
